Nan Siemer, Inventor
It's the case of the accidental inventor. Nan Siemer is actually a speaker and trainer with a
broadcast journalism background. However, like many dog owners, much of her life revolves
around trying to make her dog's life easier.
It's true: "Necessity is the mother of invention." Nan owns a dog who refused to go
outside in the rain. She noticed he was trying to seek shelter under the patio furniture
and firewood rack when he was forced to go out in the rain, but there was not enough room
for him to complete his tasks.
In early 2005, at a product innovation seminar in Cancun, an idea took hold and would not
let go. After a sleepless night, Nan discussed her idea of a Poop TentTM with the "faculty."
Encouraged by everyone to proceed, she immediately drafted a business plan on cocktail napkins.
The Poop TentTM prototype was embraced by Nan's dog, who happily uses the tent on rainy days.
Nine months after the idea was conceived, the Poop TentTM hit the marketplace.

An acclaimed Product Development professional for over 25 years, Donald Booty, Jr.'s career

Nan and Don's professional paths crossed at a product innovation seminar in Cancun. Nan's
idea for a Poop TentTM was born, and Don made it a reality. Nan says Don was the navigator
through the process, and without him the Poop TentTM would still be nothing more than an idea.
Booty holds 12 utility patents as sole inventor, another five utility patents as co-inventor,
and another six utility patents pending. Booty also holds a number of design patents, both
singly and jointly.

Benji, Product Tester
Benji is first and foremost lovable! A Bichon Frise who was bred to be a lapdog, Benji does
his "job" very well. However, he has a stubborn streak.
Early on, Benji made it known he would NOT go outside in the rain. It was a bone of
contention between Benji and his owner; often leading to "accidents" in the house and
Benji spending "time out" in his crate.
After four years of struggling, Benji and his owner decided something needed to be done.
Contractors were consulted to determine if something could be constructed to offer
temporary shelter without using too much of the yard. Since the cover would only be
needed when it rains and snows, a temporary structure seemed ideal.
Today, Benji loves his Poop TentTM. He is not interested in using it on sunny days,
but on rainy days the Poop TentTM is the only way to persuade Benji to go outside.
Now, Benji doesn't have rainy day "accidents," and HE chooses when he wants to spend
time in his crate.
